Promise Zone Arts (PZA) is an initiative of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs co-created by the Alliance for California Traditional Arts and LA Commons. PZA partners include Mayor Eric Garcetti’s LA Promise Zone Office, the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), Alliance for California Traditional Arts (ACTA), LA Commons, and the Youth Policy Institute.

Promise Zone Arts is made possible through the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts Our Town initiative, which encourages collaboration from the public and private sectors to strategically shape the physical and social character of a neighborhood, town, city, or region around arts and cultural activities.

Mayor Eric Garcetti’s LA Promise Zone Office helps Promise Zone stakeholders improve the City for residents and visitors through education, the arts, financial literacy, and promoting health and wellness.

The mission of the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs is to strengthen the quality of life in Los Angeles by stimulating and supporting arts and cultural activities, ensuring public access to the arts for residents and visitors alike.

The Alliance for California Traditional Arts (ACTA) promotes and supports ways for cultural traditions to thrive now and into the future by providing advocacy, resources, and connections for folk and traditional artists.

LA Commons, a project of Community Partners, works in neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles, facilitating artistic processes, open to all, that result in highly visible public art projects that tell dynamic neighborhood stories.

The Youth Policy Institute, a lead Promise Zone designee, offers afterschool and summer enrichment programs at under-performing schools throughout the Promise Zone, and is the largest high school after-school provider in California.

SLAB, the Spatial Analysis Lab at USC Price, aims to advance the visualization of the social sciences for public service through research, public engagement, and teaching.
